I was born in the foul year of our lord 1977, fourteen days before the death of the King. Spending the first half of my life in the white trash suburbs of Orange County, I spent the second half among the white trash sticks of the bible belt.
As any young punk growing up in the wasteland of working class O.C., I was exposed to skate boarding, surfing, comics, tattoo’s, punk, hardcore, and graffiti. In the bible belt after toiling away in the mundane factories, playing bass for punk bands, and living the failed american dream, I would paint.
Using the comic narrative to tell a story, I draw from an influence of cartoons, punk flyers, from the rich blues of Michelangelo, to the exploding purples of the Pizz to create a style, which I describe as hardcore eye candy. A stew of bright colors, blunt symbolism, social and sexual indecency, not to mention a dash of humor, my desire is that no matter who the viewer is, what the viewer thinks about the subject matter, they have to look and think “Damn… that’s a badass painting."
